The sludge press is made up of a helical screw that decreases the step as it approaches the discharge area. This screw rotates slowly inside a basket made up of a series of rings stacked one after the other, forming a screen that allows the water to pass through by the space between each ring, thus achieving sludge filtering. The ring arrangement is configured with rings of two types, fixed rings mounted directly on the frame and a group of movable rings that follow the movement of the screw, the fixed and movable rings are interspersed along the central screw and maintain their position by spacers.
At the outlet of the central screw there is an adjustable plate with which we can control the back pressure on the mud in a very simple way.
